New York, a city that never sleeps, a city
that every one dreams to visit at least once in their lifetime, is such a lively
and vibrant place that one can always get a way to entertain them.
New York City often referred to as The
Five Boroughs is the most populated city of the United States of America. The
main highlight of my trip was the famous borough Manhattan.
All thanks to the popular US sitcoms
especially my favourite F.R.I.E.N.D.S that visiting New York City was on top of
my bucket-list. This city is stuffed with amazing museums, impressive
attractions, theatres and a crazy nightlife (city that never sleeps, remember).

FLYING OVER NEW YORK |

MAKING A LANDING AT JFK AIRPORT |
Me and my friend Navi visited NY a few
years back in the month of March. We landed at JFK airport where Navi's Uncle
was there to pick us. Navi's Uncle and Aunt lived in Queens, so we had planned
to stay at their place (could we get any luckier). After claiming our baggage
and making an exit from JFK, we could see Navi's uncle waving. We hopped into
his car and made our way to the Queens.
Sliding down the window and gazing the
city, all I could see was soaring skyscrapers, yellow cabs, people rushing on
the side-walks and something interesting in this entire hustle bustle. This
city was just how I have imagined it.

CITY OF SKYSCRAPERS |
It
was just a 20 minutes ride to Queens - largest of the five boroughs of New
York. We had such a warm welcome at Navi's aunt's place. We had our lunch and a
quick nap after that. We had an entire afternoon to explore the borough on
foot. The sky was clear but the weather was chilling and it didn't matter after
all we were stepping out to stroll around the capital city of the world.

ONE OF THE BUSY STREETS |
After walking around the city for a couple
of hours we went back to our place and had an amazing dinner. Post dinner we
played card games, watched TV and felt like we are at our home. Navi's aunt's
family was awesome.
On our second day in New York, we planned
to go to another borough i.e. Manhattan. So after having our breakfast, we
headed off to the land of skyscrapers. Navi's uncle drove us to the city.

A VIEW OF MANHATTAN FROM THE BRIDGE |
All we could see was tall buildings,
people rushing, yellow cabs and the city's great diversity. People from all
over the world come to this city with lots of dreams and yes indeed, this
city has made many of the dreams come true.

A REGULAR STREET IN NEW YORK CITY
 |
I
was extremely excited to visit Manhattan. This day we saw the major attractions
of Manhattan. Check it out.

EMPIRE STATE BUILDING |

STAUE OF LIBERTY |
 |
METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART |
It took us a whole day to cover maximum
attractions in Manhattan. We saw Empire state building, Central Park, Statue of
Liberty and Metropolitan Museum of Art. During the day we ate the famous NY
street food from various stalls on our way (duh no one should be on a strict
diet while visiting NY).
 |
SPOTTED INDIA's FLAG |
This day we didn't opted for shopping but
only driving through the Manhattan. Before setting the sun we headed back to
the queens as it was Navi's aunt's birthday. And guess what I tried my hands in
making a homemade pizza for the first time along with the guidance of Navi's
cousin. And yeah it was damn yummy - everyone told so. After having this pizza
party cum birthday celebration at home, me and Navi went straight to our room
and called it a day.
The next day we spent with Navi's aunt's
family. We explored many streets of Queens. We went to a Gurudwara (a holy
place for Sikhs) and had our lunch which is typically called a Langar. In the
evening we just walked around this borough of New York, bought few things from
shopping centres and went back to our place.
So the fourth day in New York, we probably
wanted to visit the famous Times Square and do some shopping (which was truly
the best part of my trip .wink).

A BUSY SHOPPING STREET IN TIMES SQUARE |
So I and Navi went along with her cousin.
We took a subway from Queens to Times Square, which is the most efficient and
cheapest way to travel in NYC. After about 40 minutes journey we finally
stepped at Times Square.
We went to various shopping stores and
bought so many things from different brands (being shopaholic and touristy).
 |
MAJORITY OF THEM ARE CARRYING SHOPPING BAGS |
After
a lot of walking around and shopping, we decided to get some pizza (being in NY
you shouldn't miss having a pizza). And when finally it was sunset, Times
Square came to life. It was all lit up with those bright lights and big screens.
It seemed as if I myself was standing on stage of a concert with houseful.
Though I don't know what I would be doing on that stage. Wink again.

After having a time of our lives at
the Iconic Times Square, we went back to the Queens by taking a subway. Navi's
aunt prepared a special dinner for us. The dining was all set with the lovely
food. That was extremely sweet of her. After having the most delicious food and
spending our last day chitchatting about our quintessential experience of New
York, we went to asleep for the last day in this amazing city
Next day we had an early morning flight,
so we said goodbye to our beautiful host family and to this incredible city of
New York.

SEE YOU SOON NYC |
There is something really special about this city that no period of time is
enough to explore it. It was just four days that I got to spend in New York but
worth it. I just loved NYC and am very eager to visit this city once
again. Hope really soon.
Hope you enjoyed my experience in New
York. Check out my other fun travel posts.
